Other fees associated with the program (airfare, room and board, textbooks, travel expenses, insurance, etc.) are paid directly by the student to the host university.

Some universities require fees to be paid upon acceptance, check the NSE website for your placement school for details or contact your host university coordinator.

Students traveling to Canada are required to have a passport and possibly a visa, which have additional fees.

Students studying outside the continental U.S. are required to purchase additional travel/medical insurance from the OIE at $35/month.  Please contact the NSE advisor for details on how to register.

All costs listed are approximate expenses and reflect AVERAGE costs.  Since there are many universities to choose from, please note that accommodation rates, cost of living, and airfare vary around the country as well as in Canada and U.S. territories.  You can find a more accurate estimate of costs on your campus profile page on the NSE website.
