This unique program is structured to provide you with a rich introduction to Mexico, its culture, language and people.   Separate tracks have also been created for you to study Education or Social Work topics in depth.  Mornings will be filled with small group Spanish Language instruction (all levels), while afternoons will filled with excursions and lectures specific to your interest.

Education Track – Like many other areas in the United States, Green Bay has experienced a significant increase in the number of Hispanic immigrants and it is imperative for educators to understand the cultural and educational systems from which these students originate.  You will learn about these topics through school visits, guest speakers, and day-long excursions.

Three credits of Education 499 will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.  Education 499 fulfills the World Culture Gen. Ed. Requirement and with advisor approval may be substituted for an upper-level requirement in Education.

Program Dates:  Dec. 27th, 2018- Jan. 16th, 2019

Living

S15education
Participants will be placed with a host family. Meals are provided by the host family and are included in the housing fees. Homestay living provides students the opportunity to enhance conversational language skills while experiencing Mexican family life.

As this is an immersion experience, the English language skills of host families will vary. We will do our best to place students with no Spanish skills in a home where the host has some English skills. Students will be transported to and from school by their host families. Students are only responsible for transportation costs (ex. taxi fare) to and from excursion meeting points and personal exploration.
