Home to countless cultural and sporting attractions, Buenos Aires is one of the most cosmopolitan societies in the world, with a distinctly cultural sophistication. Buenos Aires has the second-largest metropolitan area in South America (15.5 million). In addition, the city is the current birthplace of current Pope Francis I and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. In this program you will have the opportunity (among others) to visit an Estancia (Argentinian ranch) in Lobos, Buenos Aires, and go a tango show in a traditional tangueria and a visit to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mendoza is one of nine cities worldwide in the network of Great Capitals of Wine, and the city is an emerging Wine tourism destination and base for exploring the region’s hundreds of wineries located along the Argentina Wine Route.
Also, Mendoza is a great destination for lovers of the outdoors enjoying mountain climbing, mountain biking, rafting and hiking at parks and nature reserves nearby.
Hosted by the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (AICIDI), in this 6 (six) credit Study Abroad Program you will have the opportunity to learn, in immersion, about the Argentinian and Latin American Culture, visiting some of the most important natural, historical and cultural sites of Argentina.
In partnership with the AICIDI, UWGB professor Hernan Fernandez-Meardi will teach one three (3) credits course of grammar and (3) credits course of Argentinian Culture with a group of teaching assistants from the Universidad de Congreso who will organize cultural visits and activities.
Program Dates: December 27th, 2018- January 26th, 2019
Students will stay in a 4 star hotel for 6 days/5 nights in Buenos Aires and with a host family while in Mendoza.
